2007 Dow’s (per 6x75cl) A touch closed on the nose but it has an amazing night violet perfume intermingled with plums and cassis. Like many of the 2007 it has distinctive terroir notes of garden herbs and minerals. Beautifully deep, and maybe a touch more feminine than usual (shock!). Almost as beguiling a nose as Fonseca. Sweet, low to medium acidity, medium to high tannins. Immense and rich with an abundance of fathomless black fruits, herbs, and a floral/ perfumed note. Succulent and mouth filling, a stunning peppery middle, and an awesome tannic structure which masks the finish somewhat. (CG)

2007 Graham’s (per 6x75cl) A touch closed but it still possesses that distinctive Graham’s perfume of violets and eucalyptus. Seamless and quiet primary at the moment. Off-sweet, low acidity, medium tannins. Focused and delineated. Very Rhone-esque with fresh, vibrant black fruit and pepper. A stunning depth of real weighty fruit holds the acidity and tannins in check. It’s almost approachable (if you have an American-like penchant for young port!). Harmonious, balanced and truly stunning. (CG)

2007 Warre’s (per 6x75cl) A dark, herby, almost brusque nose. Masculine and slightly animally with a huge depth of black cherry, light Colombian coffee and almonds along with a slight perfumed top note. Sweet, low to medium acidity, medium to high tannins. Juicy and masculine. A Lovely black cherry mouthful with hints of damson conserve. Powerful and tannic with an abundance of wood notes and a late spice/ pepper burst. Wonderfully fresh finish with the well hidden acidity now prevalent. (CG)
