Domaine Schoffit consists of 10 hectares of vineyards including a proportion of Colmar's lieu-dit Harth vineyard and the Clos St. Theobald situated on the Grand Cru Rangen. Bernard Schoffit purchased the Clos in 1986 from Charles Hippler, President of the Syndicat du Viticole de Thann. Since its acquisition Schoffit has at last been able to show his true potential. Fifty percent of the vines are now over thirty years of age and yields are severely restricted. The low yields are an important factor in the superb quality of his famous Chasselas Cuvee from the alluvial soils of the Harth vineyard - these vines are now over sixty years of age.

Alsace
2004 Gewurztraminer 'Cuvee Caroline' 20 g/l residual sugar. A really enticing bouquet of lychee fruit and Turkish delight – but clean and pure not overblown. Lovely purity on the palate too with intense, ripe, vibrant fruit flavours. Lovely balance of acidity – the wine has an initial sensation of sweetness but finishes clean and fresh. Very harmonious and elegant. (VR)

2005 Muscat 'Tradition' Clean, pure, ripe bouquet – a little honeyed and floral. Lovely ripe, intense, ‘essence of Muscat’ on the palate. Quite complex with good structure but very harmonious. Very rare a Muscat reaches this level. (VR)
