This 40 hectare estate is owned and meticulously run by Anne and Francois Collard. The terroir here is made up of 'de galets' called gres, similar to Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Francois is an agricultural engineer and trained oenologue who original worked at Chateau Lafite. Their wines, traditionally fermented in tank are wonderfully expressive and pure in flavour.

2003 Costieres de Nimes 'Terre d’Argence Rouge' Clean nose with pronounced, youthful aromas of pure, ripe, deep blackcurrant, and a touch of sur-maturite. Dry on the palate with med acidity, med ripe tannins, medium bodied with a depth of ripe blackcurrant and herbs. Lovely structure, depth and length. (CG)

2005 Costieres de Nimes 'Capitelles du Mourgues' Pure, ripe nose of blackcurrant, smoke, herbs and animals. Stunning depth, with hints of liquorice and wood spices. Dry, low to medium acidity, medium ripe tannins. Like the nose it has a wonderful purity of ripe blackcurrants, herbs, pepper and liquorice, all bound up with spicy dark chocolate. Lovely length with the finish being slightly masked at present. (CG)

2007 Costieres de Nimes 'Galets Rouge' 78% Syrah and the rest Grenache, Mourvedre, and Carignan, is another extraordinary value from the 2007 vintage. A deep ruby/purple color is followed by gorgeous aromas of blackberries, white flowers, and charcoal. Full-bodied, and oozing with fruit and glycerin, good acidity, freshness, and focus, this is a lovely red to consume over the next 2-4 years. (RP)
2008 Costieres de Nimes 'Rose Fleur d'Eglantine Syrah/ Grenache/ Carignan A wonderfully intense and fruity nose of pure redcurrant/ berry with hints of grass, provencal herbs and minerals. Dry, soft acidity. A wonderfully elegant palate, pure and juicy with mineral laced redcurrant/ berry, crumbly spices and a touch of grass. Excellent length and depth and a lovely refreshing finish.
