2001 Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Gallimardes' A sumptuous nose of raspberry liquer, blackcherry/ berries, lots of garrigue, toasty oak and wood smoke. Less dense than the tradition but more elegant. Concentrated and mouthfillingfull of raspberry, plums, garrigue, herbs and wood smoke, lovely elegance, tangy acidity, finishes with a hickory and spice note. (CG)

2005 Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Gallimardes' Gallimardes is a wonderful wine, so complex but appealing at the same time. There is an elegance here, a touch of class to balance the immense concentration of fruits. Slightly backward, but loaded with layer upon layer of sweet black forest fruits, coffee and garrigues. An evolution of 12-20 years seems entirely possible. (JG)
