We are delighted to start working with the young and extremely talented Thierry Faraval in Gigondas. Together with his brother Gilles, they took over the running of this family domaine a few years ago. Thierry is quiet and unassuming but tremendously focused. They own 9 hectares of vineyards planted high up underneath the Dentelles at 300 metres in altitude. Interestingly the majority of their vines face north-west. As a result and the fact that Thierry hates ?fat wines?, their wines tend to be typically ripe (they are frequently the last to harvest) but with elegance and verve ? even in 2003. One could almost say they have a Burgundian character. As Thierry says? I like mountain wine??Thierry also owns a few hectares in Vacqueyras, which is a truly outstanding wine but very limited
