Gerard and Marie-Claude Bonnet along with their son Eric own 10.5 hectares in Chateauneuf-du-Pape made up of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault. Their top cuvee of Chateauneuf-du-Pape is called Secrets de Pignan and is made of 100% Grenache planted in 1920. They also produce this fabulous Vin de Pays made from80% Roussanne and 20% Clairette. The grapes are hand harvested from this 1 hectare parcel of 5-15 year old vines, fermentation is temperature controlled and the wine undergoes 6 months elevage en cuve.

2006 Vin de Pays ' Portes de Mediterranee Blanc' 80% Roussanne, 20% Clairette Clean, aromatic nose of lemon citrus fruit, straw, white flowers and nuts. Dry, low to medium acidity. Clean apricot, lemon, straw, nuts and a touch of butter. Good length with a hint of flowers, light spice and a nutty after taste. Over time the nutty flavours develop further. (CG)
