CAMRA’s 2007 Champion Winter Beer of Scotland A distinctly traditional bitter aroma of dark malt, bitter chocolate, dried fruit and treacle. Mouthfilling, soft and velvety with oodles of coffee-malt, dried fruit, figs, raisins and dates. Exceedingly complex with a soft bitterness. Very long with a fruity-hoppy finish and a slight iron note.
Big aromas of roasted malt, coffee and treacle toffee. Rounded with smoky notes. On the palate it is rich and powerful yet quiet elegant with bonfire wood smoke. A lovely roasted malt, coffee and earthy middle. Superb balance, very complex and long with a soft bitter finish and a chocolate/ malty/ nutty after taste.
Pale and fruity aromas of apricot, citrus, lager-bitter and a light hoppy note. Very fruity on the palate, quiet juicy with apricot, citrus and hops. It develops a lovely coffee-malt middle. A classic IPA with a refreshing, soft bitterness. Great intensity and depth with quiet a dry finish.
A wonderful floral, hoppy and fruity nose of cherries, malt, caramel and a touch of coffee. On the palate it is fruity, full of ruby fruits, chocolate-malt, cherries, plums, a touch of treacle and plenty of malt. Long and juicy, very complex with a spicy, hoppy, iron finish.
A very intense and malty nose with the aromas of the grainy mashtun along with dark fruits, dried figs, coffee and toasty hops. The palate is equally intense, again very malty with rich, creamy fruit, coffee, toffee and grainy notes. Very alcoholic, great length with dried fruit and a spicy finish.
